ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Meri, Finnish for “aquatic” hotel, was branded to convey a calm, oceanic feel. It was inspired by a folk tale from Lapland, Finland about artic seas being so full of fish that the light fell on the water and was reflected back into the sky from the backs of fishes. The translucency, and light blue waves brought about an ambiance of softness, lightness, and tranquility, juxtaposing with the hard, frigid quality of the cold ice around the hotel.
