Meri Hotel, Finnish for “aquatic”, was branded to convey a calm, oceanic feel for a hypothetical ice hotel. It was inspired by a folk tale from Lapland, Finland about artic seas being so full of fish that the light fell on the water and was reflected back into the sky from the backs of fishes. The translucency and light blue waves and swirls of the various design applications bring about an ambience and feeling of softness, which juxtapose with the hard, frigid quality of ice around the hotel.
